So here we go!

Schneiders Cut Loose

This is my first time “blogging”. Though I’d consider this is more a diary and record for our kids Hugh and Claire who are 3 years old and 18 months at the start of our journey. But, for anyone interested in following along, you’re welcome to take a squiz.

The adventures have begun! Sunday 17th October 2021 we finally hit the road and have arrived without a hitch (poor choice of words given we do still have our hitch). The kids were as keen to get going as we were, with Hugh declaring multiple times “I’m ready to go around Australia now".

Not wanting to push the agenda on day one we had a halfway stop at Lake Bumbunga outside of Lochiel, where Claire loved sampling the pink lake’s salt crystals and we all explored the different textures and colours of the saltpan.

Not much more than an hour along we pitched camp at Chinaman Creek Campground in Winninowie Conservation Park. We’re on a small mangrove estuary not far from the gulf, sharing with about four other parties. It’s quiet, clean, simple and really great to be here.

The kids made themselves right at home exploring close to the trailer. Setting up (without awning) was a breeze and dinner was easy and ready before sunset, leaving time for a short visit to the creek. It wasn’t until bed that we hit any challenges. Too much excitement to make for a simple bedtime routine. But, night one of many many more to follow. We’ve got time to work on getting it right.
